Junior Altar Minister Coordinators

Junior Altar Ministers

The Altar Ministers special ministry is to take part in the procession to and from the sanctuary and assist in areas pertaining to the altar and ambo allocated to them.

They assist with the smooth flow of the liturgical rite, enhancing the spirit of worship and prayer.

Altar Ministers enable the priest and the congregation to celebrate the Eucharist in a worthy manner.

In the Archdiocese of Perth those who can be Junior Altar Ministers are to be baptised Catholics seven years or older, male or female.

Training and Formation

Altar Ministers play a very visible part in parish liturgy. Junior Altar Minister training and ongoing formation programs take place at parish level.

The Centre for Liturgy provides a training program for those who both coordinate and assist with training of Junior Altar Ministers.
